Three-time Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffers a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic sustained a "devastating" knee injury when the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.
The star player injured himself in the latter stages of the opening half in an inadvertent contact with fellow Nugget Jones.
The other player came down on the footwear of the MVP, and he immediately went down to the floor holding his knee.
The veteran player, who is leading the league this season in rebounds and assists, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before suffering the setback.
Jokic will undergo an scan on the following day to determine the severity of the problem.
"Right away, Jokic understood something was wrong," stated Denver coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone that suffers an injury, that's difficult, especially a player as special as Jokic. More information will come tomorrow."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, right now, I am focused primarily about him personally and the frustration of going through a situation like that."
