The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Star for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Season 3
Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has just been cast.
The platform declared Tuesday that the talented performer will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bon Clay. This character has the ability to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that character reimagined as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action show, unlike the initial comic and cartoon version.
The new cast member is joined by multiple new cast members who will portray Baroque Works to the screen, such as chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as the monarch of Alabasta.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the character will be introduced in One Piece the third season. With the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this represents a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could indicate further changes to the story’s structure.
Their mix of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the part. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
