The defender Moved into midfield when in possession, a familiar role before. Sometimes was too casual when carrying play and the experiment abandoned at half-time. 6

The tall defender A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, per usual, could serve as an alternative for his teammate in defense rather than alongside him. A loose ball after the break nearly resulted in an opener for the visitors. Six

Nico O’Reilly Another assured display from the youngster after his debut against Serbia. Saka did not capitalize on the opportunity from a clever touch over the opposing backline. The left-back spot is firmly his already. Seven

Adam Wharton His first start in an England shirt. Slightly careless when playing out however his inswinging deliveries caused problems. An effective game manager for the coach to call upon against defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a rash challenge. 6

Declan Rice Deliveries on corner kicks and free-kicks caused problems. Enjoyed license to drift on the left yet found himself offside when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Awarded a merited break after an hour. 6

Jude Bellingham Played in an advanced spot down the right and also put in dirty work. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an attempt high. Withdrawn in the closing stages for Rogers, his competition, after being booked. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s top opening before halftime, his effort excellently kept out by the opposing goalkeeper. With a teammate staying deep, he was forced to provide width on the right yet his deliveries from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. Six

The captain The match-winner netting two more goals for his country. The first a typical poacher’s finish while the second an excellent headed goal after peeling away away from the opposition. Aged 32, his form is unwavering with the national team stand a real opportunity next summer with him leading the line. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to influence play out wide. Had a decent opportunity when set up from a teammate however the keeper kept it out. His replacement made much more of influence in his place. 5
