President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Memorial details for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” the governor told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
