Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
